Snapshots: A Month in NYC from Jersey
New York City, a place where dreams are made and broken, welcomed us with open arms. The bustling streets, iconic skyscrapers, and diverse faces provided an overwhelming canvas of visual stories. We set up camp in the Garden State, New Jersey, and traveled to the heart of it all – New York City as often as possible. Join me as I take you through my first exploration of the iconic city, sharing the sights and emotions I captured through my eyes and my camera.
Chapter 1: My New Jersey Retreat
Setting up base in New Jersey for a month was an exhilarating decision. It allowed me to savour the best of both worlds – the vibrant spirit of New York City and the tranquility of New Jersey's picturesque landscapes. From the cozy cafes of Hoboken to the scenic beauty of Liberty State Park, New Jersey became my refuge, a place to recharge between my NYC escapades.
Chapter 2: The Commuter's Perspective
As a part-time NYC traveler, I learned to see the city through the eyes of a commuter. The anticipation of boarding the subway, watching the urban sprawl come into view, taking the fairy and the hustle and bustle of Penn Station became part of my adventure exploring the endless mods of transportation . These experiences enriched my understanding of the city and its rhythm.

Every visit to New York City brought new opportunities to explore. The city's iconic landmarks, bustling streets, and diverse faces offered an ever-changing canvas for my lens. The energy was palpable, and the challenge was to capture moments that revealed the city's dynamic spirit.

One of the joys of my month-long adventure was witnessing the city's changing moods. From the warm morning light reflecting off skyscrapers to the enchanting twilight hues, and the neon glow of Times Square at night, I aimed to experience and document the city's ever-evolving lightscape during different times of the day.
Chapter 5: Hidden Gems
Exploring the hidden gems of New York City was my favourite treasure hunt. Whether it was discovering the vibrant street art of DUMBO, the unique flavours of food vendors in Chelsea Market, or the serenity of the High Line, I savoured the moments when I stumbled upon the city's quieter, more intimate side.
Chapter 6: People of NYC
New York is a melting pot of cultures, and its people are its heart and soul. street performers in the subway stations, vendors in Union Square, and the eclectic residents I met in coffee shops became my subjects. Each encounter allowed me to capture the faces and emotions that make NYC so special, each portrait telling a unique story.
Chapter 7: Moments in Time
As a nomadic photographer, I was on a constant quest to seize fleeting moments. The laughter of children in a playground, the elderly couple sharing a park bench, and the artists creating magic on the streets - these were the chapters in the city's ever-evolving story that I cherished documenting.
Exploring New York City over the course of a month from my New Jersey retreat was an extraordinary journey. It allowed me to experience the city from different angles, to become a part-time New Yorker and a part-time New Jerseyan. My lens transformed the city into a dynamic, ever-evolving work of art, and I had the privilege of curating its visual symphony. My month-long sojourn was not just about capturing the essence of a city; it was about becoming a part of its story, a traveler who left her mark on the vibrant tapestry of New York.
